Darina Kandulkova Irmer was born in Sofia.
As a child, she was encouraged by her parents to pursue classical music and singing. Her first performances were at the age of 10 as a soloist of the Children’s Choir of the Bulgarian National Radio. She graduated the French high school Lycée Alphonse de Lamartine and also Goethe-Institute in the Bulgarian Capital. After graduating, she began to study singing at the Musical Academy of Sofia and gave her stage debut as Donna Anna (Don Giovanni) and Fiordiligi (Cosi fan tutte) at the Musical Theatre in Sofia. After achieving her Bachelor degree she obtained a merit based scholarship and a possibility to continue her studies at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Graz. Between 2003 an 2007 she sang several main roles at Theater im Palais, performing with a big success the First Lady in „Zauberflöte“, Sandrina in „Gärtnerin aus Liebe“, Susanna in „Le nozze di Figaro“, Iphigenie in Gluck‘s „Iphigenie auf Tauris“ as well as the main role in the contemporary opera „Der Fall Franza“ composed by Mia Schmidt (after Ingeborg Bachmann’s text).
Darina Kandulkova Irmer won the third prize at the Pleven Opera Competition „Katja Popova“ and the special award of the Bulgarian National Radio. She recorded her first CD with the Orchestra of National Radio Sofia, three years later she made her recordings for Südwestdeutsche Rundfunk and visited the master classes of Nadeshda Kniplova, KS Helga Müller-Molinari and Krassimira Stoyanova.

2008 was born her first son.
Her extensive repertoire encompasses numerous roles from opera and operetta. She gave her role debut as Rosalinde “Die Fledermaus” in the summer of 2009. 2010 she sang Donna Anna in Wien, as well as different Opera/Lied concerts in Germany, Austria, Croatia and Japan. 2010/2011 Darina Kandulkova Irmer was employed at Theater an der Rott. She had huge success in the title role of Saffi „Zigeunerbaron“. After this she performed the role of Clarina in Gioacchino Rossini‘s opera „La Cambiale di matrimonio“ at Musikverein für die Steiermark, directed by Michael Stegmann. Her Donna Anna at „Sommerfestspiele Semmering“ was followed by numerous concerts in Austria and Croatia. in 2012 came her debut as Donna Elvira and in 2013 as Cleofide in Händel‘s Oper „Poro“ at Allgäu/Bodensee, Deutschland. In Austria (Carinthiya and Styria) she sang Dvoraks Stabat Mater/ Soprano solo as well as Operngalas (Stefaniensaal, Graz and Friesach). Opera and operetta concerts in Wangen/Germany and Friesach/Austria are planned for 2014/15.
